Spring Break 2007

Spring Break!

Alas... no break from the rain. We were invited by Malcolm and Jen to join them in Tofino for a few days. I thought that any break from the city would be nice... It was very nice to get out of the city and go to the beach... but the rain just didn't let up at all. We have really had enough of the crappy, dreary, wet, weather. We spent most of the time inside this really nice condo. The company was great.

We did finally get out and brave the weather. Rya had fun regardless of her grumpy parents cursing the rain. Did I mention yet that it rained the whole time. I will eventually stop talking about the freakin rain. Notice Rya's outfit... "Daddo" picked that out. He wanted to remind us all that he intends to raise a "tomboy" who will become a world class dirt bike racer. Just in case we forgot about those plans. This is Rya's pre-race gear.



Here is Beautiful Chesterman's Beach, Tofino. The waves were huge and Malcolm got in some good surfing. We don't have any pictures of course because we didn't want to go out in the rain again. I would have loved to go surfing... In the rain it isn't that bad because you are already wet. For obvious reasons I didn't surf this time... There is also NO WAY I would be able to fit into my wet suit anyway. (I barely fit into it last summer)

Rya loved the beach. Last summer Rya was still crawling and tried many times to crawl away to sea. That was still her goal this time too. Running out to Sea is a lot quicker. We had a few arguments about the fact that she can't run out to sea. When we finally gave up chasing her and grabbing her before the waves did... she cried most of he way back to the condo. She kept on saying, "Ocean, beatipul (beautiful), kiss?" She wants to kiss everything these days. Good luck on kissing the ocean.

We went home a little ealry as Rya and I were starting to get sick, and Richard was getting sick of the rain. We both got nasty coughs and runny noses. I blame the rain entirely! I will stop complaining as soon as it stops raining. Reallly I used to LOVE the rain. We are on the outs these days.
Rya and I had a nice long nap on the couch when we got home. As the Creator and Editor of this blog I chose to not add the picture that showed both Rya and I peacfully asleep on the couch. It wasn't my goodside. I was so asleep that I didn't hear or feel Richard take our pictures. You can probably imagine the deep sleep expression on my face. Not so cute. Rya... always cute... even with a cold.

Some new stuff

We are excited and scared to welcome our second child into the world this fall. September 15th is the due date. I am feeling pretty good so far... super tired and cranky... not really sick like I was with Rya. I will post pics of the big, and beautiful growing belly... but not until it get beautiful and round... now its just squishy... not so beautiful.

January 2007

One of the few non rainy days in North Vancouver so we made the best of it and got outside. Still pretty chilly though but a brief cure for the cabin fever. Rya was sick for the last 2 weeks of December and then got the nasty cold again early January for a good week.... Well a bad week.

While we braved the nasty winter weather that clearly came from ... Ontario... We did a alot of mall hopping to have somthing to do. Rya has ridden a lot of Mall toys... and walked a lot of mall miles.
Rya is talking a lot these days. Sadly everytime a try to recorder her she stops. She is really into her animals both with speach and sign language. It is pretty cool. She knows what some words mean... but mostly she is just parroting us. It sounds cool though when we say somthing and then she says it right after.

This is Rya on her AWESOME rocking horse her Grandpa made for her. It is still pretty huge on her but it will last a long time.

And... when she is not riding her horse she rides her dogs. They have been so patient with her. She just loves them so much always giving them hugs and saying "nice Buppy.. nice Boby"

Other things tend to happen when the weather gets bad outside...

CHRISTMAS 2006

This was Christmas for us this year... Poor Rya was sick the days leading up to Christmas and during. She had a mild fever and nasty cough and runny nose and just plain sick. The little one tried to enjoy Christmas but it wasn't easy.

She was so congested she wouldn't eat or drink much of anything... popsicles were our only hope.

We still went ahead with all the Christmas plans and dresses... but Rya was in no mood for any of it.

The gold dress was a gift from our friend Christina... and the shoes from Teta Ramona.

Next it was onto the green dress... a little more comfortable but still Rya was just surviving the torture.

Christmas morning and Rya was still sick but tried her best to get into the Christmas spirit.

The wooden rocking horse was made by Grandpa and should last a few years as it is a little big still. She loves her horses. The slide was from Ona and Alfred and Old Mocuite. You can hear and see Rya talking about the monkey that sat on her gift from Mocuite.

And don't forget about the awesome "horse" (zebra) from Cousin Aidan. Already a favorite.

Not the greastest Christmas as we were all sick... it turned out to be a "surviving Christmas" kind of holiday. We were so thankful for our Family that came for dinner and games and all the great cheer... through hacking coughs and trumpet-like nose blowing.
